On February 12th, all female members of the SAS are invited to attend a slumber party! Attending guests will watch movies, bake stuff, and have girl time. Valentine's Day will be just around the corner, so you'll have time to make treats for your man (If you'd like). The party will start at 7 p.m. Friday night and guests are welcome to stay until 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Feel free to bring any fun movies or games, as well as snacks or drinks.

Sorry, but absolutely NO guys will be allowed at the event!

The next chibicon will be held at the Broadmoor Branch of the library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th. The new prizes have finally come in, so come check out the new selection! We'll be having another door-prize, so everyone who attends will have a chance to win a prize! We also have a special prize for the raffle: Eureka 7, Volume 1, Limited edition, which includes the first DVD, an artbox for the series, the series soundtrack, the first manga, and a T-shirt! As usual, tickets are only $1, so be sure to bring some cash to enter.

Additionally, the Chibicon will feature special Valentine's Day-themed events! Valentine's Day Trivia, Speed Dating, and a Dance will be special features of the event. Formal attire or cosplay is strongly encouraged for the dance.

Farewell FYE Event

The FYE in Mall St. Vincent is closing, so on January 16th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., we'll wish it a fond farewell. The store has been home to many Animania events, and we'll be sad to see it go. On the positive side, all of the anime merchandise will be discounted! All anime merchandise is already 50% off, and will be discounted even more by the day of the event! There won't be any contests, but we'll have free refreshments, games and fun events. Cosplay is encouraged as we send FYE off with a bang!

Christmas Party!

Christmas is just around the corner, and of course the SAS has to celebrate too!
The official SAS Christmas party will be held on December 26th at Jason's apartment at 5 p.m. Feel free to bring food to share with friends. We'll just be relaxing and having fun. The only planned event we'll have is a "white elephant" gift exchange. This is a game where everyone brings one (wrapped/bagged) generic gift(anime related or not), and the group plays a switching game. The exact rules are on the forums cause they're kinda long. But you must bring a present if you want to participate in the game. Anyway, can't wait to see everyone there!

Address and directions can be found in the thread on the forums!

Chibicon!

The November Chibicon will be held on November 28 at the Broadmoor Branch of the library from 10 to 5 p.m. This chibicon will include a cosplay contest, art contest, trivia contests, video games, a viewing, and cool prizes. I just sent in for a shipment of some really awesome new prizes, so come check 'em out! I also have a super-big announcement - don't miss it! We'll also be starting a new thing: a door prize! There will be a separate raffle for a special prize. Everyone who attends the chibicon will get one ticket for it when they come in the door, so everyone will have an equal chance to win. We will still have the regular raffle, too, so remember to bring some cash if you'd like to participate in it.
Check out the forums for the schedule, discussion and questions.

Convention Planning Meeting

We'll be meeting at Jason's apartment to work on planning Shreveport's very own anime convention! The meeting will be on Thursday, November 5th at 6 p.m. Anyone is welcome to come! There will also be snacks!

The SAS Halloween Party!

The SAS Halloween Party!

See the forums for details!

There will be a Halloween Cookie Cake, Chips, Queso, Salsa, other appetizers, Rockband, anime to watch, Domo pinata filled with candy to hit, costume optional.

Bring your own alcohol. If you get too drunk I'll steal your keys so you don't drive home.

Stay tuned for more announcements! Feel free to bring food/entertainment.

If anyone needs a ride, feel free to request one on the forums.

October Cosplay Picnic

On October 3rd, we'll be having a picnic at Betty Virginia Park from 4 p.m. to sunset, perhaps followed by ice cream. Hopefully the weather will be nice and cooperative. Teresa will be bringing the waterguns again, and everyone is welcome to bring their own too. Of course, everyone is encouraged to bring food to share, and blankets to sit on. Of course, cosplay is encouraged but not required. We'll play frisbee, dance, and have fun. Feel free to post on the forums with any ideas or what you'll be bringing.

Ponyo!

As I'm sure many of you already know, the new Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli film Ponyo (Ponyo on the Cliff) is about to be released. The movie will be coming to Tinseltown here in Shreveport, and many of us are planning to go see it together this week. Check the forum thread here for more details!

What's Up

There are some new things happening in the club, so I want to fill everyone in. Once school reconvenes in a couple of weeks then I will once again have access to print flyers for the SAS, which I will fervently distribute among the schools, which will surely get us some new members. In other awesome news, some of my associates at FYE are opening up a venue-place to hold music shows and stuff, and they have said that they would be more than happy to let the SAS use it for stuff. This could be the long-awaited solution to our locale problems. Hopefully this will give us a reliable place to hold our events and make everything 100 times easier. This place should open up relatively soon, so I'll post more word on that as I hear about it. Activities have slightly slowed down, yes, but with school picking back up I hope that SAS stuff will be rejuvenated too, so keep checking the site and the forums!
