Shreveport Anime Society

The next chibicon will be held on August 7th from 11 to 5 at the Broadmoor Library. We'll have some awesome stuff at this chibicon including lots of new prizes, a trivia scavenger hunt and pics from A-kon and Mechacon to share. This chibicon will also include our usual cosplay contest, art contest, door prize drawing and raffle tickets on sale for $1 a piece. Also, August 7th is the day of the traditional Tanabata festival in Japan, so we'll have a traditional Japanese theme for this chibicon, with more details on that to come. Be sure to come check it out! Suggestions are welcome of course.

We're having a Chibicon on April 10 at the Broadmoor Branch of the Library! Please note, this Chibicon- as well as future Chibicons- will be beginning at 11 AM rather than our previous time of 10 AM.

Expect the usual events such as Rock Paper Scissors, Art Contest, Cosplay Contest, Roleplaying Game, and more! The full schedule will be posted soon.

The SAS will be having a Cosplay Picnic on Sunday, March 28, at Clyde Fant Park! Cosplay is encouraged, though not required. Bringing snacks to the event would be very much appreciated as well.

Expect frisbees and possibly water guns! Though be respectful and polite to the people who don't want to get wet, and make sure all water gun activity takes place a safe distance from them.

Come one, come all, to the SAS Gaming Event! What's this gaming event, you ask? It's a fun, informal gathering hosted by the Shreveport Anime Society where you can play a variety of video games with your fellow SAS members!

Bringing TVs, consoles, controllers, and games to the event is very much appreciated, if anyone's willing to help us out!

On February 12th, all female members of the SAS are invited to attend a slumber party! Attending guests will watch movies, bake stuff, and have girl time. Valentine's Day will be just around the corner, so you'll have time to make treats for your man (If you'd like). The party will start at 7 p.m. Friday night and guests are welcome to stay until 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Feel free to bring any fun movies or games, as well as snacks or drinks.

Sorry, but absolutely NO guys will be allowed at the event!

The next chibicon will be held at the Broadmoor Branch of the library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th. The new prizes have finally come in, so come check out the new selection! We'll be having another door-prize, so everyone who attends will have a chance to win a prize! We also have a special prize for the raffle: Eureka 7, Volume 1, Limited edition, which includes the first DVD, an artbox for the series, the series soundtrack, the first manga, and a T-shirt! As usual, tickets are only $1, so be sure to bring some cash to enter.

Additionally, the Chibicon will feature special Valentine's Day-themed events! Valentine's Day Trivia, Speed Dating, and a Dance will be special features of the event. Formal attire or cosplay is strongly encouraged for the dance.

The FYE in Mall St. Vincent is closing, so on January 16th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., we'll wish it a fond farewell. The store has been home to many Animania events, and we'll be sad to see it go. On the positive side, all of the anime merchandise will be discounted! All anime merchandise is already 50% off, and will be discounted even more by the day of the event! There won't be any contests, but we'll have free refreshments, games and fun events. Cosplay is encouraged as we send FYE off with a bang!

Christmas is just around the corner, and of course the SAS has to celebrate too!
The official SAS Christmas party will be held on December 26th at Jason's apartment at 5 p.m. Feel free to bring food to share with friends. We'll just be relaxing and having fun. The only planned event we'll have is a "white elephant" gift exchange. This is a game where everyone brings one (wrapped/bagged) generic gift(anime related or not), and the group plays a switching game. The exact rules are on the forums cause they're kinda long. But you must bring a present if you want to participate in the game. Anyway, can't wait to see everyone there!
